Stabbity Bunny #8 is coming soon and we are in for a particularly special treat this Halloween! Fans will be treated to a variant cover that is an homage to Hellraiser, with Stabbity Bunny drawn in the likeness of Pinhead. A few lucky ghouls will get their paws on an extremely limited, virgin, chromium version dubbed HARERAISER. An exciting moment for fans of the series since this is the first time we see Stabbity Bunny given the foil treatment. Here we discuss the shiniest installment of Stabbity Bunny to date with creator with Richard Rivera.
Comic Burst: How do you move from concept to print for your variants?
RIchard Rivera: I’m always coming up with new cover ideas and sometimes they go into inventory, but for the most part we find a home for them super quickly. There are rare exceptions, ASM 300 swipe being one of those, but for the most part, all cover concepts are specifically conceived of and art directed by me, right down to Stabbity holding a Rubik's cube.
CB: What can you tell us about HARERAISER specifically?
RR: The cover is by Dwayne Biddix with atmospheric touches and colors by Liezl Buenaventura. They totally killed it! [On the release side of things] we finished the HARERAISER cover and then I was holding it to find a good [partner]. When I spoke to Jason of Dimension X at Awesome Con, this one came to mind with him being such a horror buff and super guy.
CB: Can you give us any hints on what to expect in #8?
RR: In this issue find out how Stabbity was changed 100 years ago. We flash forward to 15-year-old Grace and see the Shadow Play kids in action for the first time in a Scout comic!
CB: Where can we get a copy?
RR: It's exclusive to Dimension X Comics, Toys, & Collectibles and they will have it at NYCC! I will also be making a couple of appearances, signing for a couple of hours at a time. After the New York event, I will have a few at conventions while my copies last. I will be in Kentucky and at a number of local Florida conventions, but watch StabbityBunny.com and our Stabbity Bunny Facebook page because there seems to be a lot of last-minute opportunities and additions to my schedule.
CB: Why a foil cover now, are you marking anything special?
RR: It was an idea I discussed with Jason; we thought it would look cool, and Scout made it happen.
