Comic Book Checklists
The Uncanny X-Men return in a new weekly, 10-part series, ominously titled “Disassembled.” Fans will not want to miss how creative team Matthew Rosenberg, Kelly Thompson, Ed Brisson, Mahmud Asrar, R.B. Silva, Yildiray Cinar and Pete Perez will take everyone’s favorite mutants into a whole new and refreshing realm. Expect a mind blowing cover from artist Leinil Francis Yu in his signature style. Uncanny X-Men #1 will hit shelves on November 14th.
The creator and artist duo Scott Snyder and Jock, respectively, return with The Batman Who Laughs #1. The scene is set in a beautifully macabre world where Batman will face a twisted and sinister version of… himself: a gun obsessed, harbinger of Doom who appears quite capable of handling whatever is thrown (or shot) his way. Think of a cross between The Batman and The Punisher, one that got into guns after shooting this world’s version of Joe Chill.
Creator Scott Snyder had this to say:
It's another one of Batman's worst nightmares. This is like Punisher Batman, but it's also Bruce Wayne, which makes him terrifying...he's rich, he has access to everything. He's the deadliest Dark Knight ever and he's coming to the DC Universe as a henchman of the Batman who Laughs.
Legendary talent Grant Morrison (All Star Superman, Batman) makes his dynamic return to DC Comics, alongside artist Liam Sharp (The Brave and The Bold, Wonder Woman) in The Green Lantern #1. In celebration of this brand new adventure with Earth’s Emerald Guardian, fans will be treated to some epic covers by Quitely, Mattina, Migliari, Cheung, and more!
“In this debut issue, when Earth’s space cop, Hal Jordan, encounters an alien hiding in plain sight, it sets off a chain of events that rocks the Green Lantern Corps—and quite possibly the Multiverse at large—to its very core. There’s an inter-galactic conspiracy afoot, as well as a traitor in the GL Corps’ ranks, so strap in for more mind-bending adventures in this masterpiece in the making.” -DC Comics
Middlewest is the story of young boy named Abel who must traverse vast and magical lands to fix a broken past and a lineage he wishes to mend. Praised for his cover work and artistic abilities, Skottie Young, of I Hate Fairyland fame, takes the creative helm for the new series Middlewest from Image Comics. To bring the series to life, Young has teamed up with Jorge Corona (No. 1 with a Bullet, Goners) to illustrate the series and Mike Hudson to provide cover art.
The man who is taking the comic world by storm, Donny Cates, returns to fill in the storyline blanks of everyone’s favorite mad titan: Thanos. What happened between the events of “Thanos Wins” and “Infinity Wars!”? “Thanos Legacy #1” will explore this timeline and features cover art by Geoff Shaw. Look for it to hit stores on September 5, 2018.
Hitting shelves on September 7th, Marvel's new Spider-Geddon #0 will be making quite the impression with longtime Spidey fans and first time readers alike. Written by Christos Gage and Dan Slott, with art and cover by Jorge Molina, you can expect some major surprises, from new villains to shocking returns. How will this all work out for our web-slinging friend?
Expect jaw dropping covers from artists such as John Tyler Christopher, Mark Bagley, Clayton Crain, and many more.
IDW and DC Comics will be celebrating the upcoming 25th anniversary of The Maxx with a crossover to end all crossovers. Be on the lookout for this year’s most anticipated and craziest return on September 19, 2018.
Eisner and Ringo awards winner Jody Houser will be taking creative lead for the Stranger Things comic, which tells the story of Will Byers and his unseen adventures in the Upside Down. It is based on the first season of the ridiculously popular Netflix series by the same name, and it is a pretty safe bet that this will be one of the hottest books hitting shelves this fall. Look for it on September 26, 2018.
