The creator and artist duo Scott Snyder and Jock, respectively, return with The Batman Who Laughs #1. The scene is set in a beautifully macabre world where Batman will face a twisted and sinister version of… himself: a gun obsessed, harbinger of Doom who appears quite capable of handling whatever is thrown (or shot) his way. Think of a cross between The Batman and The Punisher, one that got into guns after shooting this world’s version of Joe Chill.
Creator Scott Snyder had this to say:
It's another one of Batman's worst nightmares. This is like Punisher Batman, but it's also Bruce Wayne, which makes him terrifying...he's rich, he has access to everything. He's the deadliest Dark Knight ever and he's coming to the DC Universe as a henchman of the Batman who Laughs.
IDW and DC Comics will be celebrating the upcoming 25th anniversary of The Maxx with a crossover to end all crossovers. Be on the lookout for this year’s most anticipated and craziest return on September 19, 2018.
Batman and Catwoman say “I do" in DC’s Batman #50, the culmination to one of the longest running on-again, off-again “romances” in comic book history. The relationship between Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne began in Batman’s first solo series, where Catwoman was introduced in Batman #1 during the spring of 1940, along with The Joker and Hugo Strange. She served as more of an antagonist than a true villain like Joker, with her motivations more led by greed than evil or chaos, though this did not stop her from holding her own against Batman or whomever got in her path.
Despite varying artists and writers throughout the years, each interaction of Batman and Catwoman was a subtle mixture of confrontation and flirtation. Finally, over 75 years later, “The Bat and The Cat” are finally tying the knot and fans have plenty to celebrate. Expect not only the happy union of Bruce and Selina in Batman #50, but also over 20 variants (and counting) from an all-star lineup of artists like Tyler Kirkham, Francesco Mattina, Frank Cho, and many more. Batman #50 is an unforgettable and momentous occasion in comic book history!
