Synopsis A short story, made to look like an article from a 1940 issue of Life Magazine showcasing The Shield. The story ends with a conversation between Joe and Col. Boyle. An introduction to the Legacy of the Crusaders feature, a series of comics showcasing the Mighty Crusaders. Advertisement for the Red Circle website. An interview with New Crusaders writer Ian Flynn. Introduction to the Red Circle line, its history, and its characters. Years ago, the Mighty Crusaders rid the world of all evil and built a town for themselves called Red Circle. Joe Higgins is invited to a party in celebration of the town's birth, and attends. Just before dinner is served, Brain Emperor attacks the Mighty Crusaders, while the Shield takes the children of the Mighty Crusaders to his house. Meanwhile, all of the other Mighty Crusaders are killed. Being unable to find The Shield, Brain Emperor leaves the town. Features an introduction to the story, the credits for the story, and the different variant covers.
